Tube Weaning Bundle

Groundwork first, then Tube Weaning — a clear, no-pressure pathway that protects readiness before we reduce tube feeds, always rooted in trust.

Tube Weaning Bundle

What this bundle is

This bundle is designed for babies who need Tube Weaning Groundwork first, but where the goal is still active Tube Weaning when the time is right.

We begin by Reflecting on your baby’s feeding history and current pattern, then Restoring the foundations that make a baby-led wean possible: rhythm, comfort, technique, cues, and a no-pressure feeding environment. This phase is often where feeding starts to feel less tense and more predictable, even if oral intake is still small or inconsistent.

Once those readiness markers are in place, we move into Tube Weaning with guided tube feed reductions in a structured, baby-led way. Reductions don’t begin immediately. They start when they’re safe, appropriate, and your baby has enough readiness to cope with the shift.

When to book

Because this bundle includes two phases and two consultations, it works best when it’s booked within 1 to 12 weeks. That window helps us keep momentum and context, and it also means we can move from Groundwork into Tube Weaning without losing the thread of what your baby is showing us.

If you’re unsure on timing, start by booking the first consultation. We’ll work through Groundwork and decide together when the Tube Weaning phase should begin.

Investment: $1,351.80 (save $202.77)

This bundle is usually the best fit if

  • Your baby has little or no recent experience feeding by mouth, or hasn’t fed orally for several weeks.
  • Your baby is currently fully tube-dependent, and oral feeding isn’t yet something they seek out or tolerate consistently.
  • There are medical or physical factors that make feeding more complex (for example, congenital differences, past surgeries, respiratory support/oxygen, or neurological/genetic conditions).
  • Your baby’s growth is currently fragile, including a BMI that sits in a severely underweight range.
  • Safe swallowing and coordinated sucking/swallowing is still a question right now, or you’ve been advised that oral feeding is not currently safe or effective.
  • Feeding anxiety is high — even when your baby seems hungry, they consistently refuse, become distressed, or feeding feels stuck and tense.
  • Your family needs more runway before starting reductions (emotionally, practically, or because life is simply full right now).
  • You want to book the full pathway now (Groundwork + Tube Weaning) so support is ready when your baby is ready — rather than having to re-plan later.

What to expect in tube weaning groundwork

Phase 1 — Tube Weaning Groundwork

We Reflect on your baby’s feeding history and current pattern, then Restore the foundations that most influences readiness. This includes tube feed rhythm, oral opportunities, technique and equipment, behaviour and cues, and day to night rhythm. The groundwork phase is about laying the foundations, not proving your baby can eat.

It does not mean they will start eating straight away. Many babies don’t yet have a reason to eat because the tube is still doing the nutritional heavy lifting, and that’s okay, we’re giving them the skills to get there.

Phase 2 — Tube Weaning (guided reductions)

Once readiness markers are in place, we begin guided tube feed reductions in a structured, baby-led way. We continue to Reflect and Restore as we go, because tube weaning is not just about less tube. It is about helping your baby learn hunger, build skills, and develop confidence in eating by mouth.

What you need to be prepared for

Tube weaning can feel emotionally intense, not because it’s wrong, but because it’s a shift for everyone – take it from a mum who knows!

In Groundwork, progress often shows up first as behavioural change, not volume. This might look like calmer offers, less tension, clearer cues, improved comfort, and a steadier rhythm. If your baby is currently taking little or nothing by mouth, Groundwork does not automatically mean they will start eating straight away. It’s very normal for babies to take little or nothing by mouth at this point. With the tube still meeting their nutritional needs, there’s no urgency from their body to eat yet, and that’s okay.

When we move into Tube Weaning, early hunger can look messy. Intake can be inconsistent. Sleep, mood, or stool patterns can wobble as your baby adjusts. Weight can fluctuate. We monitor it with perspective and clear safety parameters, without turning feeding into a numbers chase.

Sometimes we need to pause or slow down. Illness, medical changes, or weight concerns can all shift the pace, and in those moments we protect stability first. A pause doesn’t mean your baby can’t do this. It usually means they need a little more time before we continue.

Support included

  • Online consultation 1 (Groundwork): 60–90 minutes + plan
